How to Make a Manhattan
Knowing how to make a Manhattan will expand your cocktail making horizons, making you the go to party guru. Although there are many versions of this particular drink, the following ‘how to’ shows you how to make it in its original form (the Manhattan was the first cocktail that used vermouth as a modifier for example).
Steps
1- Prepare your ingredients. For one cocktail you will need: 60 ml (2 oz) rye whiskey,,15ml (1/2 oz) sweet vermouth, 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters and a maraschino cherry for garnish
2- Put them in a shaker with ice cubes and shake. Pour all the wet ingredients into a mixing glass with ice cubes and get shaking.
3- Strain. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
4- Garnish with the cherry. And any other little accents that you care to add.

The most popular variations of a Manhattan are: Dry Manhattan- Use a dash of dry vermouth and garnish with a lemon twist, Perfect Manhattan- Equal parts of sweet and dry vermouth. Garnish with a lemon twist, Brandy Manhattan- Replace whiskey with brandy, Scotch Manhattan- Replace whiskey with Scotch, Southern Comfort Manhattan- Replace whiskey with Southern Comfort.
