How to make lemonade
Knowing how to make decent homemade lemonade can keep the kids entertained or even just provide your guests with a refreshing summer drink. Here’s a simple guide to fantastic lemonade. The very basics works in the proportions of one cup of water, one cup of caster/fine sugar, and one cup of squeezed lemon juice (4-6 lemons)
Steps
1- Make simple syrup. Heat the sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved completely.
2- Juice your lemons. While the sugar is dissolving get juicing your lemons. 4 to 6 lemons will make about a cup full, so the amount of lemons that you’ll need depends on how many cups of sugar and water you used (for every one cup of water you need one cup of sugar and one cup of lemon juice (4-6 lemons).
3 Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher and let it cool, before chilling further in the fridge. Add cups of cold water to dilute to taste before adding ice. Depending on the lemons used, you may wish to add more juice should it not taste ‘sharp’ enough.
Tips
Try adding torn mint leaves just before serving for a zingy twist.
