How to Skin a Pepper (Bell Pepper)
Knowing how to skin a pepper properly can save you endless awkwardness preparing dinner. It’s a simple process, but one that would not occur to most. The following ‘how to’ breaks down the technique for you.
Steps
1- Prepare the pepper. Slice the top off the pepper. Remove the seeds and white ribs from inside the pepper. Cut the pepper in half lengthways and in half again.
2- Grill skin side up. Place the pepper quarters onto a grill, skin-side up, and cook the pepper quarters until the skin is blistered and blackened.
4- Place in sealed bag. Transfer the peppers to a re-sealable plastic bag. Set aside for 5-10 minutes, or until the skin has loosened from the pepper flesh.
5- Peel. Once the pepper quarters are cool enough to handle, peel off the skins and discard.
Tips
Keep a close eye on your peppers under the grill. It only takes a second for them to cook passed the skin and into the flesh.
