  1. If working at home set up your transformer, this will reduce the voltage to 110v.
  2. Check for any defects to the grinder before use. 
  3. Be sure the area you have chosen to cut in is free of debris and any potential hazards.
  4. Always run away from the body.
  5. Make sure that the object that is being cut cannot move.
  6. When using a grinder the following personal protective equipment should be worn
  7. Plug in the grinder and begin to cut in a slow motion, either back and forward or from side to side, which ever is more comfortable.
  8. If cutting masonry, dust is a byproduct so be sure to cut in a well ventilated area.
  9. All of these techniques and precautions also apply when using a mini grinder.

Electrical grinders are used daily within most aspects of building work. When used without due care they can be potentially very dangerous. YOU USE THIS HOW TO GUIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. As with all machinery they should not be used unless the user feels comfortable. There are courses available which are highly recommended and are usually set up by local councils.

Steps

1- If working at home set up your transformer, this will reduce the voltage to 110v.

2- Check for any defects to the grinder before use. Look for loose connections, worn areas and make sure the blade matches the task. If you have any concerns it is wise to put the tool in for a basic service.

3- Be sure the area you have chosen to cut in is free of debris and any potential hazards.

If you are cutting masonry such as bricks or blocks attach the correct blade according to the manufacturers guide. Right and left handed users should also place the handle in accordance to the manual.

4- Always run away from the body. Some users prefer to cut from left to right in front of the body, others at a lower height from front to back. Which ever method is chosen be sure that the grinder will always run away from the body.

5- Make sure that the object that is being cut cannot move.

6- When using a grinder the following personal protective equipment should be worn; gloves, goggles, mask, ear defenders and steel toe cap boots.

7- Plug in the grinder and begin to cut in a slow motion, either back and forward or from side to side, which ever is more comfortable. Do not force the blade into the object as this can result in jamming and the grinder may kick.

8- If cutting masonry, dust is a byproduct so be sure to cut in a well ventilated area.

9- All of these techniques and precautions also apply when using a mini grinder.
